Horses have proven to be unique vessels for healing. The power of horses and their ability to connect and open up the communication channels with humans is undeniable. Below are some of the many reasons as to why we use horses:
• As prey animals, horses are incredibly adept at reading and responding to subtle body language and feelings. As a result, they are honest teachers that are able to reveal hidden trauma and fears within people.
• Horses are large and powerful which creates a natural opportunity for overcoming fears, thus developing confidence, trust, and patience.
• Horses, like humans, are social animals with defined roles. This provides a natural opportunity to compare their behaviors to ours.
• Horses have distinct personalities and they provide vast opportunities for metaphorical learning.
• Horses require hard work to be successful with them; they don’t allow one to take the “easy way out”.
• Christ designed the horse uniquely to be interdependent with humans and reflect His longing for relationship with all.
